Tawang Express Tour — 6 Days / 5 Nights Overview
This 6 day Tawang tour skips the Nameri stop of our 7 day plan and spends the time on the high mountain route: Bomdila, Dirang, Sela Pass at about 13,700 feet, Jaswant Garh and Tawang with its 400 year old monastery.
The full Tawang circuit means long mountain drives and altitude above 10,000 feet, so it suits healthy travellers who are comfortable with early starts. Snow is possible from December to February and road closures can happen at Sela, so keep a buffer day if you can. Indian visitors need an Inner Line Permit, which we arrange. March to May and October to November are the best months.

Day-by-Day Itinerary (6 Days)
Meet our driver at Guwahati Airport or Railway Station and drive to Bomdila via Bhalukpong. The road climbs through forest. Check in and rest. Overnight in Bomdila.
After an early breakfast drive via Dirang and Sela Pass to Tawang. Stop at Sela Lake and Jaswant Garh. Check in at Tawang. Overnight in Tawang.
Visit Madhuri Lake and Bum La Pass if permits and weather allow, then Tawang Monastery and the local market in the evening. Overnight in Tawang.
After breakfast drive back via Sela Pass to Dirang and see Nuranang Waterfall on the way. Overnight in Dirang.
After breakfast visit Dirang Dzong, then drive down to Guwahati. Check in and rest. Overnight in Guwahati.
Early morning visit Maa Kamakhya Temple. After breakfast drop at Guwahati Airport or Railway Station for your onward journey.
